In the year of 2006, it carried approximately 1.2 million passengers and it is presently the largest airline outside Singapore when taken into account the number of passengers carried each year.The airline started its first flight to India and Malaysia in 2007 and 2008 respectively. In March 2009, the airline started its flight services to Jakarta and in the same year April, it started flying to Australia too. It was also the first airline to receive permits from the authorities of the Chinese aviation to operate flight services within their country. It caters to flight services in India, China, Australia and Southeast Asia.
The airlines other overseas ventures include Tiger Airways Australia, Mandala Airways (Indonesia), Tiger Airways Singapore and South East Asian Airlines (Filipino). The crew on board the flight is a mix of people from different nationalities such as Hong-Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Thai, Korea, Japan, Australia and China.
