Exeter This is the ceremonial county of Devon and contains many notable religious buildings such as the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and St Mary Steps and other secular buildings such as the ruins of Rougemont Castle and the oldest municipal building in England still in use The Guildhall.

Plymouth This city lies on the coast and has ferry links to France and Spain and an airport with European services. Totnes This is a dainty market town situated at the head of the estuary of the River Dart. It is a thriving centre for art, music, theatre and natural health and is known as a place where one can live a bohemian' lifestyle.

Dartmouth This is a popular tourist destination set on the banks of the estuary of the River Dart and used to be of great importance as a deep water port for sailing vessels. Visit Dartmouth Castle and Kingswear Castle, which protect the narrow mouth of the Dart as well as the many other historic buildings around the town.

Torquay Located near Torbay, this fishing and agricultural town developed into a popular seaside resort in the 19th century.
