The Question Of Australian Immigration Cuts by:Mitch Jones

The Question Of Australian Immigration Cuts by:Mitch Jones

In Australia, migration is one of the most important topics that are being discussed in the various policy making bodies of the government

. Since the country has a long history of immigration, the country has actually pretty much depended on it for development. Thus, any issue regarding to will likely affect the country as a whole.

One of the most talked about issue here is to whether or not cut down on the number of immigrants that are coming yearly. This one is indeed surprising, as Australia is traditionally well know to be welcoming to immigrants. In fact, to date the country has accepted more than 7 million immigrants since the end 0f World War II.

However, there is actually a limit to how much people the country can carry. While Australia does have a large land area, only a small part of it is actually livable. This is mainly due to the fact that a large part of the country is made up of desert lands.

And with the rate at which immigration is going into the country, it is likely the these areas will soon be filled up. Thus, there will be no choice but to expand into the outlying areas. However, there is also a limit to which expansion can be done here. The two main factors here is the livability of the outlying areas and the effects that the expansions will cause. The Question Of Australian Immigration Cuts by:Mitch Jones

And the problem of Australia's population growth is also further aggravated by the economic crisis that hit it and the rest of the world in 2007 up to 2009. Though the Australia's economy didn't suffer the recession as much as other countries like the US and Japan did, it did significantly slow down to the point that it can not sufficiently handle the additional number of people coming in.

It for this reason that many people are suggesting the the Department of Immigration and Citizenship should impose a higher cut on the number of immigrants coming in. they say that this should be done in order for the economy to recover to the point that it will be able to handle the influx of foreigners sufficiently again. They also note that, at the current situation, immigrant labor will actually be more of a competition to local workers.

However, those who are against immigration cuts say that this will actually do more harm than good. As it is, they said that the small Australian population will not be able to handle the size of their economy. Thus, the country will be needing all the foreign labor it can get to sustain their growth. They also say that this is the moment that the country needs the gains brought about by immigration the most.

As it is, this one will likely be a standing issue for a while. And for their part, immigrants will have to wait and see if these cuts do push through.
