Useful Tips for a Hawaii Vacation by:Ellen Gentry

Occasionally everyone needs a little time away from the concerns of everyday life

. Hawaii vacations will provide you with time in the sun to relax and enjoy yourself.

No matter the time of year you are going to head to Hawaii, the temperature is mild. There's no reason to worry about winter's cold or summer's heat in Hawaii. Each day of the year, the temperature is warm enough to go swimming but not too hot to go outside. If you are a surfing enthusiast, the best waves generally occur through the winter months. Even on the warmest days of summer, the tradewinds produce cool breezes.

Perhaps you prefer traveling to just one of the islands or you will want to try spending time on all six. Each island has something different to offer.

The island of Oahu has well-known Waikiki Beach, the state capitol of Honolulu, as well as Pearl Harbor where you will be able to view the USS Arizona memorial. A lot of tourists select this island when going to the Hawaiian Islands for the first time. It is not only the busiest Hawaii Island and the one most visited by tourists, but it is best for sightseeing if you're interested in history. You'll most likely have to spend a bit of time here during your vacation to Hawaii, since most flights to and from Hawaii use Honolulu as a hub.

Kauai is the most northern island in the archipelago, and it's also the oldest island in Hawaii. This is a romantic island famous for its natural beauty, and it is also great for an outdoor adventure getaway for tourists of every age group. The famed Coconut Coast is on the eastern shore of the island, with its marvelous sandy beaches which are a treat for sunbathing and relaxing, alternatively if you should visit to the west side of the island you will find what is known as the 'Grand Canyon of the Pacific' - the Waimea Canyon. Close by is Kokee State Park, a park of fantastic natural beauty offering several trails that can be taken to discover several of the rarest birds in Hawaii and also plants that are found only in the rain forest.

Molokai is found south of Oahu. This island hosts a sizable proportion of Native Hawaiians who continue to hold fast to their culture, heritage and traditional way of life.

The next island in the chain is Lanai. This extraordinary island does not have even one traffic light and everyday life is slower here than on the other islands. On Lanai are two fine golf courses.

The island of Maui lies in the middle of the migration route of the humpback whale, and quite a few tourists travel here in winter for whale watching. Maui's beaches are said to be amongst the best in the world, and are popular with many people seeking a Hawaii beach vacation devoid of the crowds in Honolulu.

The Big Island of Hawaii is, as you would assume, the biggest island in the Hawaii archipelago. For that matter it is larger than all the other islands put together, and it includes 11 of the 13 defined climatic zones found on earth. Among its numerous attractions are mountains topped with snow, earth's most active volcano and lovely beaches. The Big Island is a must on any list of Hawaii vacation choices and also good if you are looking for inexpensive real estate.

In case you are uncertain about what island you would prefer to spend most of your time at, or if this might be your first Hawaii vacation, then why not look into a Hawaii cruise package? You board your luxury cruise liner, upon which you will spend your nights, and after departing Honolulu you experience a day and a half on each island. What could be a better way to tour the Hawaii Islands for the first time and then assess which island you like most?

If perhaps, however, you choose to spend nights on land, you will have no trouble getting a place. There are a large number of hotels to be found in Hawaii. Additionally, it is easy to find a vacation rental in Hawaii.
