1). Frame

The frame is made of tetra-wall rigid steel plates opening up and down. The frame is used to support the eccentric shaft and withstand the crushing force. It is required to have enough strength and stiffness. Generally, it is casted integrally by cast steel. For small machine, the cast steel can be replaced by high-quality cast iron. For large machine, the frame should be casted section by section and then connect the section together by bolts tightly. The casting technique is complex. Small home-made jaw crusher can also be made by welding thick steel plate, but the rigidity is poor.

2). Jaw plate and side plate

Both fixed jaw and movable jaw are composed by jaw-body and jaw plates. The jaw plates are the working part which is mounted to jaw-body with bolts and wedge. The jaw body hung on the shaft is the front wall of the machine frame. Mostly it is made of cast steel or cast iron because it required to be strong and rigid enough to withstand the crushing force.

3). Driving eccentric shaft

Driving eccentric shaft is the main shaft of crusher. It is made of high carbon steel and has a huge torque force. Eccentric part requires fashioning, heat treatment and the liner of bearing to be casted with babbitt metal. One end of the eccentric shaft is mounted with pulley and the other end is mounted with flywheel.

4). Adjusting device

There are generally wedge block type, pad plate type and hydraulic type etc. adjusting devices, normally wedge block type is adopted which are composed of front wedge and back wedge two wedges, front wedge block can move forward and backward and block against rear push plate. Rear wedge plate is adjusting wedge which can move up and down. The slant sides meet together and adjust outlet opening size by screw moving up and down. The adjusting of small size jaw crusher outlet opening size is realized by increasing or decreasing the washers between push plate bracket and machine frame.

5). Flywheel jaw crusher

Flywheel is for storing energy not consumed during empty travel cycle of movable jaw plate, and the saved energy will be used in another travel cycle which makes the work load of machine become even. Pulley also plays flywheel role. Flywheel is always made of cast iron or cast steel, small size flywheel is normally as an integral type as fabricated. Please note flywheel static balance during its fabrication and installation.

6). Lubrication device eccentric shaft bearing

Normally concentrated circulation lubrication is applied; the feeding of oil to the supporting face of mandrel and push plate is normally by manually operated oil gun which feeds lubrication grease. The swinging angle of movable jaw plate is very narrow which makes difficulties in lubricating between mandrel and bush. So normally open some oil groove in axial direction at bottom of bush, and open a circumferential oil groove in the middle to make the lubrication way through. Then forcefully inject dry grease in with oil pump to make lubrication.
