The Luxurious Lives Of Compensation Lawyers

The fact that this local attorney deals in workers' compensation cases shows his success

. He calls himself successful, this young lawyer who drives a Rolls Royce and lives in an apartment building he himself owns. His earnings from dealing in workers' compensation cases indicate his success. It was during an investigation that lasted two months that the Associated Press and Better Government Assn. made a decision regarding when to schedule the two day arbitration hearings before the Illinois Industrial Commission in Springfield.

For 134 cases that came out on those days, he was the attorney. His fees for handling 34 cases that originated on those days and were closed came to $19,238 94. On the other hand, another legal specialist and state representative made around $17,619 55 for the legal services he offered in 12 cases.

Rising along with business costs and workers' compensation payouts are the fees of attorney who handle workers' compensation cases. Several lawyers out of those practicing workers' compensation full time are making it big financially. Humongous loads are sometimes handled. A lawyer could charge as much as 20% for his legal services for every settlement made. In most cases, there is no need for arbitration.

One particular lawyer uses a quarter page advertisement in the local telephone directory for the purpose of letting others know of his services. His success is all due to his hard work these past years, he says. There are days when he would talk to 50 people, and there are other days when he would talk to as much as 80. According to him, there's nothing easy about the job. There are those whom he talks to who are unable to buy food for their families.

Because I work for myself, I work hard. It's saddening that a person would not do as much as he does because he works for the state or a company for a fixed payment. People have asked me if workers compensation lawyers are rip-offs and frauds. It's not a smart approach. As he explained that he's not here to rip anybody off.

While lawyers strive to give what they can to their clients, they also strive to get what they desire as well. Among the questions people ask us include whether or not we're getting paid much and if we rip off companies. I will represent my people in the best way I can, and get what I can from there. In some cases, a person would get a bit more than what they should. A company must stick to its position.

Companies or the insurers will not immediately pay the expenses that an injured worker is due. There are still concerns of how disabled the worker is and what kind of medical treatment he needs. Doctors would want to be on the safe side and not give any treatment unless they know for sure they are being paid. From a practical standpoint, many doctors will not treat an employee unless assured that they will be paid by the insurance company.
