Telluride Ski Destination and information Telluride was original a silver mining town on the San Miguel River on the west side of the San Juan Mountains. Recently it has become one of the premier ski destinations in the state of Colorado because of its amazing snow and remarkable ski runs. The Telluride Historic District is one of Colorados top 20 National Historic Landmarks. Nesting in the Box Canyon and Steep forested hillside and cliffs many ancient weathered ruins of old Coloradoan mining camps dot litter the hillside making for an interesting detour from the skiing. Telluride is famous in the local area for it popular culture. Its the home to and international film festival but of consensus best know for its ski resort, which is an amazing destination for all looking for an exciting getaway this ski season. The Ski Resort itself rest at a base elevation of 8,750 feet and has a top elevation of 13,320 feet giving it quite and respectable change in vertical terrain. With 120Ski runs covering 2000 skiable acres of terrain there is plenty of open area for all. Of those 120 ski run 23% are considered for beginners, 36% are considered for intermediate, and 41% and for advanced or expert runs. So whether your just learning to ski or a seasoned pro youll find something to suit you fancy here. The longest run Telluride has to offer is the Galloping Goose at 4.6 miles! The area consists of 3 terrain parks for all you snowboarders looking to show off your moves. Unfortunately there is no night skiing which is kinda of bummer but with over 31 inches of annual snowfall who can complain?
