Swing Trading - How Much Practice Trading Do I Need?

Swing Trading - How Much Practice Trading Do I Need?

Everyone has heard the saying "practice makes perfect" one time or another in their lives

. It's how very many people have gotten somewhere in their lives, especially when it comes to the professional arena. Many people have pursued something in their lives that they have already tried, especially when it comes to a job. It's everyone's goal to have a job pretaining to soemthing that they've already done in their lives, as it's easy for them to pick up, and they already enjoy it. With all of that considered, think about the college student, a person who's going to school to figure out what they want to do for their lives. When it comes to swing tading, this is basically what paper trading is, going through college with the hopes of earning some big money.

As we know, paper trading is without any risk. It will grant the person a little hands-on knowledge with the world, and informs a person of how the industry works. It's allows for them to trade pretty well, making them feel a little confident in the world, and even excited about putting their money into it. It's pretty much all of the hands-on knowledge that a person can get without actually investing any capital, and it should be appreciated for what it is. In all accounts, it really helps the person get into swing trading, answering all of the initial questions that he may have.

On the other side, there is a built-in flaw that the person has to understand if they're seriously considering pursuing the industry. It's designed to be that way, and this has swallowed up a plethora of would-be swing traders. Firstly, it's important to point out that paper trading naturally gives the trader the best prices, as well as the cleanest profits. Basically, it all looks very sunny when you're trading paper. When it comes to the actual market, the forecast is usually pretty bleak for many, as it gives you the exact opposite most of the time, unfortunately.

Additionally, there's something else in swing trading that a person doesn't get from paper trading. It is a lot more complicated, and the learning curve is higher. More substantial than that is the play on a person's emotions and psyche. When the swing trader actually has their money on the line, we know that it's a little harder parting with it. Investing capital in swing trading makes it a whole different ballgame completely, as everyone is trying to get their piece and trying to keep everyone else from getting anything. This counts double for people just starting out, as the professionals are specifically gunning for them, hoping to line their own pockets.

Paper trading is an amazing way to get started, but understand that all of the good feelings will go out the window the moment they take a draw down with their own money. Before they invest, understand that the odds are against them, and there are many sharks who have been doing this for a number of years.
