Agape Children Rise, a non-profit charitable organization, was founded in Ontario, in 2006. Their mission is to help by educating people and asking them to get involved by sponsoring a child, and help underprivileged families overcome economic hardships, making them productive members of society. In July, 2007, Agape Children Rise began helping African-Canadian youth in the Jane-Finch community of Toronto. From there, their services extended all the way to the Democratic Republic of Congo, to assist with the care of orphans in some of the poorest villages. Those programs include After School programs, in which volunteers offer tutoring in math, English and computer skills, in addition to music and emerging information technologies. Sponsoring a child means that with your help, you can provide the resources volunteers need to pass on this important knowledge to the children they are helping. Sponsoring a child keeps them from getting into mischief, giving them a safe place to go in order to learn and grow, rather than endangering themselves in a unsafe, compromised environments.
