When looking at the treatments for balding men the first thing you may need to do is try to work out what could be causing the baldness.
Dihydrotestosterone.
This is possibly one of the main reasons for baldness in men. It happens when an enzyme in the body converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHA) causing the hair follicles to get smaller and thinner as one gets older.
A suggestion of finding and using a treatment to inhibit DHA forming, may help in preventing early hair loss.
Infections and medical treatments.
High temperatures with an infection or flu may cause hair loss, also medical treatment like radiotherapy, the drug Interferons side effects, cancer treatments with chemotherapy and the use of steroids may also cause hair loss. Although a treatment could be found with research on the internet for this type of hair loss, the hair loss in these situations may only be temporary.
Stress on the body.
One of the big problems with today's society is stress and this may have an effect on hair loss as it may deplete levels of vitamins and mineral essential for good health. Anyone treatment for this hair loss would be to try and eliminate as much stress as you can from your everyday life.
Chemicals.
An exposure to certain dangerous chemicals may cause baldness, due to the reaction the body has with the toxin. Treatment for this hair loss may require you to see a medical specialist as the chemicals in your body may need to be removed.
Psychological problems, Trichotillomania.
This condition occurs in a small number of individuals, both genders and children. It not only involves the hair on the head but may also involve other hair on the body. It is caused when the hair is pulled out by the hands. Treatment for this may require advice from a medical practitioner.
Scalp infections.
Ringworm is one scalp infection which can cause hair loss if left untreated. It is a fungus which spreads in the form of a ring, it may be itchy, red and leave bald patches as it spreads. A fungicide is usually used as the treatment.
Burns.
Burns can also be a reason for hair loss, especially where there is severe burning and several layers of skin have been affected. This may require specialist advice as burns can get infected and be serious.
Other treatments for balding men.
Hair transplants may be another way of treating baldness. Small sections of hair may be taken from the sides and back of the scalp and transplanted to the bald area.
Expanding the tissue on the scalp over a period of time in areas where there is dense hair growth, may create enough loose scalp to pull upwards over the bald area, the excess is then removed. This procedure is called Tissue Expansion.
Scalp reduction is similar to tissue expansion except it is where natural loose skin on the scalp is pulled up and removed surgically. This may help older people as it can reduce wrinkles.
Finally if none of the above appears to be of any use there is always a cosmetic approach, cutting the hair in a style that suits ones features may accentuate the face, building confidence, so that the baldness may actually improves good looks. Some screen stars, politicians and notable people have baldness. But if you are really worried about it a good wig may be just the thing.
