Skills That Every Teen Should Learn In Summer
Summer is coming, our parents should have right ideas for children
. What should they do? Go to summer camp? Stay at home? Work to earn money? We have four years to help our children to take care of themselves. Here is a list of like skills you want to pass on, suggests Dr. Peajagrjs.
Cleaning
If your teens are like mine, they think kitchens and bathrooms magically clean themselves. Just remember that knowing a skill and using it in their own domain are two different things. While every kid should have chores, dont spend the high school years waging war over your teens messy room. Better to close your eyes to a little chaos in there (as long as shes pulling her weight with her other chores around the house) and keep the lines of communication open for more important issues, says Dr. Bradley
Car Maintenance
Many boys like to play car, they like to repair them when it broken, especially study why and how. They likely to spend time texting friends or show off himself how clever he is.
But teens (girls included) need to know the basics of caring for their ride: how to check the oil and tire pressure, and follow a basic maintenance schedule. Melissa Mieras of San Antonio says her husband, Tom, taught their three sons by doing those things and explaining it all as he went alongwith the boys around.
If they dont familiar about that, you can teach them or prepare a video. They should train themselves learning skills and practice it. you should train them learning ability and I am sure they will realize that all must done by ourselves but not others.
Laundry
Washing is a big project, also a good task to test children. Many children hate to wash because its dirty and a bad smell. And no one would like to wash smelly socks. Find a way to get you teens and their dirty clothes into the barrel, give them enough washing powder. And let them know that should not waste water but keep the cloth clean.
Of course, the best way for teens to acquire this, or any skill, for that matter, is practice. After all, discolored clothes will drive home the importance of proper sorting better than any lecture from Mom. So after your tutorial, have your teens start doing their own laundry.
Be available to answer questions, but resist the urge to step in. Handling this kind of responsibility gives teens a greater sense of competency, and thats the real goal, says Dr. Peajagrjs. Each skill they acquire helps them say, I can do it myself. For that, a few ruined items of clothing seems a small price to pay.
Cooking
Cooking is an interesting work. As I know, many children prefer to do it by themselves than to buy. You can enjoy a lot of fun form here. The most important things that they will cherish the food because they know that cooking is not easy. If you let them to buy the materials, they get more things form that ,such as they know the price and how to bargain with shoppers and the last one they will know that how difficult to make money.
Managing Money
Managing money is a long journey. You should train their habit of managing money. First of all, they should realize that making money is difficult and money should come from legal ways, which will be a right guidance in their life.
