I was originally going to speak about the new age shopping generation, then I was proposed the idea to examine what shopping really was and where it came from.
To start on any topic you must first understand what it is, so we turn to a familiar resource; Our dictionary.
"Shopping is the examining of goods or services from retailers with the intent to purchase"
Which means a consumer in any demographic which has disposable income inwhich to provide themselves with material items. but before we had this shopping of our favorite products what was their? a common form to "shop" was Trade, which is the voluntary exchange of goods, services, or both. Trade is also called commerce or transaction.
Before we had Shopping we had "Selection" and selection was the activity of shopping but in the context of evolution, certain traits may be subject to selection and under which adaptive traits tend to surface. meaning that they adapt to what it is that they like and the for the process of selection has started.
Shopping can be traced back to Ancient Rome as early as 10th century BC, in the Trajan Market which was a large complex of ruins in the city of Rome, located on the opposite end of the Colosseum
So how far we have come from Selection in Ancient Rome to Shopping in our community at the corner store and now even Online!
