I'm not here to lecture you about the need for furthering your education. You do not need me to tell you that more and more employers require a degree than ever before. Gone are the times when you could get a well-paying job without having finished your post secondary education.
President Obama believes in education, and reaching your goals has never been easier thanks to the scholarships that have become available for single mothers. Grants are currently available for particular fields of study, such as teaching, or various studies of the medical field, especially those which are in high demand. Pell Grant Awards have increased for the upcoming year, with plans to continue to increase in future years. Student loans may be obtained at low interest rates, and can now be repaid based on income and household size, or forgiven if you work in a high need area.
Nearly all community colleges and universities have financial aid available. If a traditional campus does not meet your needs, online courses qualify for financial aid, giving single mothers the opportunity to work on their own schedule.
