Known for several beautiful destinations including the island of Bora Bora (Pora Pora to native inhabitants), 118 islands make up French Polynesia, the largest island being Tahiti itself. Hawaii
The Aloha State first became part of the United States in 1959. Encompassing more than fifteen islands, tourists are permitted to visit the six largest ones: Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and the Big Island of Hawaii. The Polynesians, Hawaii's first settlers, came to Hawaii over 1,500 years ago. Hundreds of years later settlers from Tahiti arrived. Visitors to Hawaii can view the Big Island's active volcanoes, visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial in Oahu, surf, canoe, snorkel, and relax on any one of Hawaii's gorgeous sandy beaches.
