Jodhpur - The Blue City In India Is An Amazing Destination
The second largest city in Rajasthan is Jodhpur and some people refer to the city as the Blue beauty
. Rajasthan glows with a spectacular blue light because of the thousands of Blue houses that surround the Mehrangarh fort area.The city is famous for its weather and is a popular region for tourists to visit. The city is near the Thar desert region and receives a low amount of annual rainfall which also boosts the areas tourism. The city has many beautifully maintained forts that are centuries old but preserved incredibly.
Rajasthan was built around the 1450's and was ruled under the Gurjara-Pratihara period. After that period, the Rajputs ruled the city, and they became famous for using a route between Delhi and Gujarat. The route became famous for trade. under the rule of the Raj puts and Rajasthan became known as the commercial hub of it's day. The Local people were called Marwari's and the Marwari's became famous throughout India as great traders and business people. Jodhpur later had a tribe known as the Mughals populate it but the city was still run by the Marwari's people. The city was regarded as a place that had excellent structures and planning in place. Mughal culture and influence is apparent in many parts of Jodhpur even today with displays of art and some magnificent architectural designs.
Jodhpur has a link to nearly all the large cities throughout India either by rail, road or air. You can board a flight to Jodhpur from cities like Jaipur,Mumbai,Agra and many others using the major regional airlines Indian airlines or King fisher airlines. The main airport is only Five miles from Jodhpur and is easy to access. The centre is very well linked with rail with connections to Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata. The average price of an a train carriage with air conditioning from any of these locations will range from approximately INR1200 up to as much as INR 2500. The town can be reached easily by road from Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Udaipur along with many other major centres.
The distance between major Indian cities is often a full day's drive so most tourists seek train or flight when travelling.
Jodhpur has literally hundreds of different attractions including bazaars that sell handicrafts and other art. The city has a seven-mile long wall with eight different entrance points that many tourists love to visit. The wall is a beautiful structure and people all talk about how interesting the surrounding areas are.
There is also a huge fort that is renowned for it's wonderful architecture right in the middle of Rajasthan. The fort provides a delightful view of the city when you are on the roof. This very famous fort is situated at the very top a gigantic rock and it has seven huge gates that were positioned in a strategic way to fend off enemy attack. Tourists all talk about how well maintained the fort is fort is and most regard it as a must see destination.
The Rajasthan museum is also a tourist attraction that has some amazing artefacts and military displays and is widely reported as another tourist highlight.
