Protect Your Children In A Crowd
Nearly every parent has had a child wander off on them amidst a crowd at one time or another
. Needless to say, once is enough to frighten any parent. Kids are naturally adventurous, but there are ways that you can protect their safety when you go out. Below are some tips on keeping children safe and nearby while in a crowd.First of all, beginning at the house before you even go out, use a backpack instead of a diaper bag or even a purse. This will free up your hands and arms, allowing you to hold onto your kids much more easily. Dress your kids in colorful clothing and hats so you can spot them easily. You should also be prepared to keep your kids safe if they do become separated from you. Place a card with your name and number and their address in their pocket or pinned to their clothing.
Establish a base or meeting place that everyone knows to return to in the event that someone does get separated. Also, inform your kids about the various civil servants such as police officers or security guards that are there for their protection. Make sure your child knows how to identify them in case they need help.
Keep your children in your sight at all times. Even if they're capable of going to the bathroom by themselves at home, accompany them to the restroom when you're out in public. Especially if there are a lot of you, make sure everyone is holding hands. A human chain can be a great way to keep everyone together. And of course sometimes the best way isn't the easiest. Though inconvenient in a crowd, strollers are one way to keep an especially adventurous child by your side at all times.
An alternative to a stroller might also be a safety harness. Children are naturally curious and prone to wander, and a harness is one way to keep them close until they learn the dangers of straying from Mom and Dad in large crowds. Make it a fun game with your child by getting a backpack harness, available in a variety of shapes and colors, that will even make your toddler feel important as they carry a favorite toy, or perhaps their own snack and drink in their pack.
