Police Officers Need The Right Police Gear To Do Their Job.

Police Officers Need The Right Police Gear To Do Their Job.

You or I wouldn't attempt to dig and turn over our yards with a spoon and fork from our kitchen

. What we would do is seek out the correct equipment to do the job, a garden fork and a large spade. Therefore, we shouldn't expect our police officers to be out on the street with the wrong gear for the job. police gear is essentially to maintain the officer's safety in all situations such as footwear that gives them comfort and protection and vests that offer stab or bullet protection. All of this is police gear and to be honest the range of gear is vast and mind-boggling.

A typical police officer would carry a sidearm, baton and restraints, and possible a flashlight, radio and a range of report forms. That sounds fairly standard and it is for any officer. Some of the more specialist police gear is straight out of the realms of James Bond and Computer games. Lock picking tools, night vision goggles and tactical lasers would all be items out of young boys dream spy kit. Yet such items are still police gear, albeit used in more specialist situations. These items are very different from the very basic kit a police officer on our streets would have carried not so many years ago.

police gear issued in the early days of policing would have been basic and rudimentary by today's standards. An officer 50 years ago would have carried a handgun in a holster on a Sam Browne belt (a wide belt made of leather, which a strap would extend diagonally over an officers right shoulder). Along with these things, they would have had a nightstick (baton) and handcuffs. Yet still they policed our streets with just this basic equipment. You have to take your hat off to those guys in the early days of policing.

Any officer needs to have communication with the precinct and other officers and therefore the radio, cell phone or pager is fairly standard issue police gear. Without that contact, the officers on patrol are incredibly vulnerable and with safety being paramount, some method of communication is vital. With a vehicle, the amount of police gear carried can increase 10 fold. With medical equipment, computers, vehicle registration recognition equipment, radios and drug and alcohol testing equipment, a police vehicle can deal with almost any situation. Police Officers Need The Right Police Gear To Do Their Job.

Top of the list for any officer whether on foot or in a vehicle, is safety - theirs and ours. Much police gear is designed with the maintenance of safety in mind. Bullet and stab proof vests are sadly the norm when it comes to protective police gear. It's sad that they need such protection but fortunate that the kit available is very high quality. A duty belt worn by an officer needs to be capable of assisting them to carry all of the police gear they need from a pencil to a flashlight and a sidearm to restraints.
