Philippines As Travel Destination

To enjoy a good and memorable trip to Philippines

, it is advisable to do two things: 1) get a clear picture of what you would like to see 2) find a reliable travel professional who would help you organize an effective tour.

The Philippines is an attractive Asian country with lots of natural and man-made sights. The most popular place is surely its capital, Manila. Manila is located on the shores of the bay. Stretching for tens of kilometers, 'Greater Manila' is a complex conglomerate of seven cities-satellites and a dozen small ones, each with its own characteristic appearance. In total, the city has more than 680 square kilometers and is historically divided into several areas.

The old district of the capital is called Intramuros. Here one will find the fortress walls of the 16th century, whose total length reaches a few kilometers, visit art galleries, restaurants, museums, and an aquarium. The city has miraculously survived the fierce bombardment in 1945, so Manila Catholic Cathedral opposite the fort, the Cathedral of St. Augustine, the oldest stone church in the Philippines, the adjacent museum of religious art in the old monastery of the Augustinians, the Museum of the Casa Manila, a shopping center and many colonial buildings have been preserved and provide adult tourists with a handful of places of entertainment.

Rizal Park is known for a planetarium, different concert venues, the pavilion of orchids, the park of butterflies and the monuments to Filipino heroes. Ermit district can be called the 'tourist belt' of the area, and most hotels are concentrated in this part of the capital. Trendy restaurants and bars are scattered in downtown Manila and in more distant places. It is interesting to see the church of Malate, the alley on Robinson Place and Harrison Plaza square in front of the Rizal Memorial Stadium. The National Museum of the Philippines offers a rich collection of geology, biology, ethnography, and history of the country.Philippines As Travel Destination

The district of Makati is the financial center of Manila. The sights of this region may include a lot of skyscrapers. Quezon City invites the tourists to see the Capitol, the Colosseum and a beautiful zoo. In Kalookan City, one will see the only in the Philippines railway station.

In the vicinity of the capital, there are a lot of interesting places, including the lighthouse at Cape Boheador and textile workshops in Paoay. In Manila Bay, there is the tragic Corregidor island, notorious for heavy fighting during the Second World War. Enormously popular is Laguna province, where there are a lot of hot sulfuric springs and spas. Picturesque rice terraces, beautiful serpentine zigzag roads, Sino-Philippine 'Pagoda of Friendship', and magnificent beaches make the Philippines diverse and intriguing. Baguio City Mountain Resort is located 250 kilometers north of Manila in the province of Benguet. This is the 'summer capital' of the country, famous for its mild climate and clean air. The attractions include the summer residence of the government, Church Bells, beautiful crystalline arrays of surrounding rocks and tombs in the surrounding mountains. Near the coastline, there lie 'a hundred islands' (actually, there are about 400), framed by white sandy beaches and extensive coral reefs.

To the south of Manila, there lies the picturesque ridge of Tagaytay, where tourists will admire the national park and the unique Volcano Quezon Taal, the smallest active volcano in the world. Another volcano, Banahao, is the place of worship of the locals. The magnificent Basilica of Sep-Martin-de-Tours is considered a national treasure in Taal. Nearby, at the foot of the volcano Makiling, is the famous Hidden Valley, numerous cavities with hot mineral water, waterfalls, hundreds of hot springs and luxurious vegetation.
