As with any new venture, there are things which one should know as a start after the trip. We will discuss briefly some of the things we should be mindful of electronic auctions.
When choosing an auction site, one of the factors one should consider is the focus of the auction. By that I mean the type of products or services offered. It's general merchandise or whether to focus on a specific category. For example, can be a variety of items for sale or whether to concentrate on electronics and software and jewelry. Choose by type of goods you desire.
Types of online auctions
There are basically three types of auctions on the Internet: face-to-person auctions, commercial auctions and real-time auctions. I will talk briefly about each.
* Face-to-person auctions - these usually take place between individuals rather than businesses. Attention, however, companies that "dump" the entire inventory in this type of pricing reserve auction and tender (which we'll talk later), so as not to deteriorate the normal retail price. This type of auction would probably offer the greatest variety of products and services offered for sale.
* Commercial auctions will spotlight companies that offer products for sale in the auction business model. This avenue can be used by companies to eliminate excess inventory, reconditioned or discontinued products. Still other companies will use this platform as an additional tool for the retail sale of their data.
* Webcasts in real time - that is, as the name suggests, live broadcast auctions over the Internet. The beauty of this type of auction is that candidates can participate in person or via the Internet from anywhere in the world. Be ready to pre-register if you wish to join this one, though.
Minimum bids over reserve prices
This is another area of new information for me. Can there really be a big difference between the minimum bids and reserve pricing. Minimum bid is set as the opening bid for an auction, if a physical auction or an online auction and can be as low as a few minutes. Many auctions are also a minimal price. While this value is usually kept secret, is significantly higher than the minimum bid. If we are dealing with a commercial area, be sure to check the fine print on those reserve prices.
