Breast cancer, these two words are dreaded by most of us
. Do you know why? Because of the myths associated. A lot of misleading information is available on the net and print material which is highly ambiguous. People start and discard using certain products, diets etc. just because someone told them that it triggered breast cancer. A practical approach is to do a lot of surfing about any particular information you got from someone before jumping to any conclusion and making any substantial lifestyle changes.

Use of plastic bottle triggers cancer: No! Every now and then we get mails from unidentified sources and even friends urging us to stop using plastic bottles for the purpose of freezing, storing, microwaving etc. But there are no scientific evidences in favor of this claim.
Wearing a bra causes breast cancer: False! It is believed that bra restricts the course of lymphatic fluid thus accumulating toxins and triggering breast cancer. The lymphatic fluid doesnt accumulate; it drains back towards the chest and arms! Also, a well fitted bra helps in providing good support and shape to the breasts, so dont take them off.
Antiperspirants can induce breast cancer: Again not true! It is believed that these deodorants prevent the release of toxins from the site of their application and this built of toxins generates cancerous cells. This is absolutely nonsensical as there is no proven substantiation in support of this myth.
Hair dyes can cause breast cancer: Untrue! This is a rumor that we have been hearing for long. Dyes can induce scaling, skin irritation but till date, their direct role has not been verified.
Mobile phones induce cancer: Contrary to such beliefs, there is no fine scientific confirmation that mobile-phone use generates any type of cancer. According to the enormous studies conducted, the radiation they produce is too weak to pose any health menace. What we can be sure of is that the maximum threat they currently pose is not cancer, but car accidents as frequent mobile-using drivers are more likely to be caught up in an accident.
Breast Implants induce cancer: Not true! No scientific association has been established between silicone or saline breast implants and breast cancer till date. Though women with these implants might have to undergo tedious breast examination for the diagnosis of cancer, but the role of these implants in causing cancer has not yet been established.
So dont just follow anything blindly, get into the details and try to establish a fact by a scientific or logical evidence. Dont get overwhelmed with mails urging you to forward it to every single woman you know, or dont ignore etc. etc. Spreading half or wrong information can be very confusing and unethical on our part.
