, Nallathanni and Kundala, Munnar is among the most popular hill stations in South India. It is one of the highly rated tourist hill stations in South India. Munnar was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. It is located at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level.

Rolling hills with tea plantations and mist hanging in the air make Munnar a picture postcard destination. Munnar is basically a tea town where a traveller is greeted with miles and miles of unending tea plantations. Neelakurinji a flower, which bathes the hills in blue colour, once in twelve years is another highlight of Munnar. The Neelakurinji flower will bloom next in 2018.

Munnar is a star tourist destination of 'God's Own Country', Kerala. It is frequented by travellers from different parts of the country and around the world. It is extremely picturesque and tranquil, just perfect for honeymoon or a relaxing family holiday. One can experience the charming calm of Mother Nature in beautiful tea plantations and Raj era buildings.

Munnar is also home to the highest peak - Anamudi, in South India, which towers over 2695 meters. The topography of Munnar is varied and the region in and around varies in height from 1,600 meters (5,249 ft) to 1,800 meters (5,906 ft) above mean sea level.

Munnar has a soothing climate. It is quite cold during winter (December/January). A traveller must take extra woollen garments during heavy winter season. The temperature ranges from 0c to 10c in winter and 15c to 25C in summer. The tourist season in Munnar is from August to May. However, even the monsoons are lovely with many streams and rivulets make the stay in Munnar pleasant.

One can also visit Rajmala on a trip to Munnar. Here a traveller may get the chance to see the rare species Mountain Goat. One can also enjoy a walk in the spectacular Tea meadows. Boating in Mattupetty Dam is another exciting activity that one can indulge in.
