Free Enterprise

Expanding Socialism is the problem. Free Enterprise Is the Solution.

As your Congressman, I will do everything within my power to defend and promote our free enterprise economic system and fight those who seek to subject America to socialism.

America is the greatest nation in the history of the world. We enjoy a standard of living envied by the world. We are blessed with a military that is unmatched in human history. We are a beacon of freedom for all.

Is America great because we are lucky? No!

America is great because we enjoy a free enterprise economy that, over time, has made us the world's greatest economic power and generated so much wealth that even the poorest American lives better than most people around the world. Free enterprise forces companies to deliver goods and services better, faster, or cheaper than their competition (if they are to survive). All Americans benefit from this competition because the promise of monetary reward for a job well done motivates people to work hard, be creative, and earn more money for themselves and their families.

But the free enterprise system that has given us so much is under attack. The Socialist wing of the Democrat Party controls Washington and does not or will not see Socialism for what it is.

Socialism is forcing tax increases to unsustainable levels, thereby taking money from families and the private sector to expand government intervention in our economy.

Socialism is bailing out banks, insurance companies, and other politically powerful industries with taxpayer money, thereby rewarding failure rather than success, while never correcting the cause of the problems.

Socialism is destroying the best health care system the world has ever known by replacing it with a risky government program that will interfere with our ability to make decisions about our own treatments.

Socialism is an American president firing General Motor's president, appointing his successor, and then taking over the company.

In an April 9, 2009 Rasmussen Poll, 30% of self-professed Democrats stated they prefer Socialism over free enterprise and 31% had no preference between the two. That's scary.

The threat of Socialism to America cannot be overstated. No Socialist economy in history has ever sustained both adequate domestic programs and a national defense. Socialist economies have consistently produced lower incomes and higher unemployment than enjoyed in America.

Socialism is already undermining our national defense capabilities by diverting money from national defense (such as missile defense) to welfare and other wealth transfer programs. While the threatened demise of our military by Socialists is economically bad for the Tennessee Valley, it is deadly for America.

As your Congressman, I will do my utmost to defend and promote America's free enterprise system. I will work to protect our economic freedom and reverse the giant strides made by politicians who seek to take it away.

America is a nation of individuals and freedom. If we will simply have trust in the free enterprise system, America will be fine. But if we fall for the false promises of Socialists who proclaim we can only trust government (not our families or ourselves), then America risks everything our ancestors have sacrificed to build.
