Every March this event is hosted here with the participation of writers from all over the world, who arrive in the city to discuss their work with the audience of writers and readers who turn up from across the Asia-Pacific.Organized by the non-profit organization, the Hong Kong International Literary Festival Limited, this festival will be featuring the local and celebrated overseas authors with a ten-day programme of literary events which will include the worlds leading literary prize winners. Scheduled to take place from Tuesday 8th to Friday 18th March 2011, this festival boasts of having the participation of a stellar line-up of world-class authors from Ali to Zephaniah, catering to a banquet of literature for its audience. This highlight of the literary calendar in Asia focuses mainly on the English language authors, while dedicating a special session for schoolchildren as well, where they can meet and discuss the written word with their favourite authors.
More mainstream writers have been included in the festival this time around and a special feature called chick lit has been added for the first time. The mission of this festival which is reputed to be as brilliant as Hong Kong is exciting and as dynamic as the city is sophisticated, is celebrating English creative writing and emphasising writing with an Asian connection, featuring both emerging and established authors with the intention of uniting readers and authors, promoting the literary arts and fostering a love of literature.
