Making our Children Happy this Holiday Season
We can usually make our children happy at Christmas via easy gift giving and easy festivities in our house. As it has usually been said that Christmas is more than just toys, it is always best to teach our children that Christmas is a time for sharing and giving and a time to be thankful for all the blessings that we received all year round. It is easy to make our children happy through toys and gifts however it is always best to inculcate the deeper meaning of Christmas.
Christmas family traditions are one of the best things that children look forward to. The spirit of Christmas is always boosted by Santa phone calls. These calls encourage our children to remember that doing good deeds is always being rewarded one way or the other. Santa Claus becomes their figure of inspiration to do well in school and being good to others.
We all share that happy feeling when Christmas is approaching. As an adult, we make every possible effort to return the happiness we felt as when we were a child. We shower them with all the gifts we could possibly afford, from new toys up to new clothes.
However, keeping it simple is one of the best ways to save us from over spending on gifts for our children. We must always remember that just like Santa Claus, gifts are given like rewards for something good they have done. Traditionally, children write letters to Santa thinking of three good things they have done and in return they ask Santa for a special gift.
Another tradition that makes our children happy on Christmas is the family gatherings. Our children feel the excitement flows thinking that they are going to see their uncle from a distance or get to know a new cousin or look forward to being with grandma. Children love to spend time with their favorite uncles or aunties and playing with their cousins whom they've only see on special occasions. They want to mingle and play, just like we enjoy chatting over coffee with friends and relatives.
During family gathering, it is nice to initiate some games that children can enjoy and win some prizes. Children love challenges especially if there are rewards at the end of the game. It also develops their sportsmanship and helps them become a better person too, not to mention the bond it creates towards the other member of the family.
A special dinner on Christmas Eve also makes our children happy. They get to eat their favorite foods and then more sweets. Preparing a special home dish adds to the anticipation of Christmas. At this time, they also enjoy chatting with the family after dinner and they anticipate the arrival of Santa for their gifts. They are eagerly waiting for the exchanging of gifts.
Children feel exceptionally happy when they receive Santa calls. This makes them feel warm and essential. The feeling of "Santa did not forget me this year" makes the season more special and splendid.
