Making A Last Minute Travel Checklist
Traveling is exciting, but it can also be very hectic
. There are all kinds of things that you need to remember. Some of them, if you forget them, are not the end of the world. Others, however, can ruin your whole trip! The more prepared you are, the less stressed out you will be on the day that your travel. You want to make your plans plenty of time in advance, and leave enough time to check and double check everything. It helps to be organized, and to make a last minute travel checklist. Here are some of the things you will definitely want to include on that list.Gather the Documents That You Need
Having the proper documents falls into the category of things that, if not handled correctly, could ruin your trip. If you are traveling to a foreign country, you will need to have a passport. This is definitely not something that can be left until the last minute. You will have applied for the passport at least several weeks earlier. When you are making you last minute check, you should make sure it is in a safe, accessible place, along with any other papers you need. These will include travel directions, guidebooks, and any tickets you need to bring with you.
Make Sure You've Packed For the Weather
Even if you checked the forecast before, you should check again at the last minute. You do not want to be caught in three days of rain with no boots or rainwear. Likewise, you do not want to arrive to 90 degree weather with only long pants and sweatshirts.
Make Sure Everything Is In the Correct Luggage
This is especially important when you are flying. If you have liquids, or other items that may not be allowed in your carry on, make sure that you stow them in luggage you plan to check. If you have books, electronic devices, or other items that you want to use in-flight, make sure they are in your carry-on luggage and are accessible.
Call to Confirm Reservations
It would be a very unpleasant surprise to reach your hotel and discover that your credit card has been declined or that your room has been given away for some reason. Call ahead to make sure everything is settled.
Make a List of Emergency Numbers
This list should include the numbers of family members of friends at home, any hotel or hostel where you plan to stay, and, if you are traveling internationally, the number of your country's embassy in the the country where you are staying. You should make a few copies of the list and store them in different places. This way, if you cannot use your cell phone or if it is stolen, you will have a way to reach someone.
Bring Cash With You
Whether you plan to use cash on most of the trip or not, it's a good idea to bring a little with you for the time you are en route. You may not be able to use a card on the plane, or at a gas station, etc. You will almost certainly want some snacks or other incidentals, and having some cash is a good way to ensure that you can get them.
Get a Good Night of Rest
Traveling is no fun when you do not feel well. Get a restful, peaceful night of sleep before you leave. This will ensure that your your body and mind are well prepared for the journey.
These are some of the things you'll seed to remember, but you will almost certainly come up with some others. Make sure that you prepare your list early, and check it a few times before you go. A last minute CAA travel checklist will make your trip much smoother and less stressful.
