Live in Mexico for Retirement – Choose Your Paradise!

Live in Mexico for Retirement Choose Your Paradise!

Americans and Canadians can choose from a very wide variety of Mexico retirement communities, ranging from actual gated communities in beachfront resort towns to charming colonial cities full of culture. In any case, they will be able to enjoy paradise, and make their savings stretch farther at the same time!

The following are a few examples of communities which Americans or Canadians who live in Mexico for retirement can choose.

Gated Community in Beachfront Resort Area. For many, this is the ideal form of retirement in a warm climate. Some of the larger communities of this sort include shopping areas, restaurants and other services, making it easy to live comfortably within the limits of the community. Some of the smaller communities are car-free, making for a more relaxing atmosphere. Most have plenty of green space, and pools. Examples of where to find this is in Playa del Carmen, or in Loreto, Baja California.

Beachfront Condos. In the same kinds of areas, or even less developed areas, there are condos that are directly on the beachfront, making it easy to enjoy the ocean, and relax on a terrace, with the sound of the waves. Some condos that aren't directly on the beachfront offer beautiful views of the ocean, surrounding hills or other similar features. Places like Cancun or Puerto Vallarta are the classics.

Colonial Cities. These are gaining popularity among American and Canadian retirees. Besides the fact that the prices are often very accessible, they also offer direct contact with Mexico's history and colorful culture. Restored classic homes tend to be a favorite, where residents can easily walk to all the services and attractions of the downtown area. Traditional music, beautiful parks and splendid architecture define day to day life. Merida, on the Yucatan Peninsula, is one of the favorites, as well as Mazatlan on the Pacific Coast, which is also directly on the beachfront. A hidden gem to consider is Morelia, in the central area of Mexico.

Quaint Villages. The favorite in this category is Lake Chapala. The towns of Ajijic and Chapala are perhaps the largest population of American and Canadian retirees who live in Mexico, who were drawn to the small town, provincial lifestyle, also full of tradition and culture. Homes often have splendid views of the beautiful lake and the surrounding hills. A similar option, again relatively undiscovered but offering a very charming lifestyle at a low price, are the towns on Lake Patzcuaro, near the city of Morelia.

Retirees who choose Mexico have many areas to choose from, and, within these areas, properties that suit just about any budget. On top of all this, Mexico is really close to home.
