Keratoconus is a progressive eye condition that is currently affecting 1 in every 500 people in the US. A dramatic increase since just a few years ago when it was estimated as 1 in every 2000 people. There are many treatment options to treat Keratoconus. A few of the most popular are Holcomb C3-R treatment, Visian ICL, and INTACS. The Holcomb C3-R involves the placement of special eye drops to help strengthen the cornea and use of a UV light to activate the solution. The procedure takes around 30 minutes and is done in the doctor's office. Additional treatments such as Visian ICL Lens which is used to help enhance vision, typically after the Holcomb C3-R has been administered takes around 5-20 minutes per eye and is non-invasive. INTACS helps to strengthen the cornea and decrease the steep cone on the eye, which contributes to decreased quality of vision.
