Justin Bieber, the international soul singing phenomenon is a model teenager
, and a great example for his peers the world over. In the current celebrity obsessed world Justin stands out because his fame is routed in his talent and his capacity for hard work. From a very humble upbringing he has achieved a great deal, and he has done so without a wealthy family background, and without indulging in attention seeking behavior.His career was sparked when he won second place in a singing competition. From then on his mother put videos of Justin singing on You Tube. He is probably the first true example of a major star being born via the You Tube vehicle. His early recordings were not very sophisticated, but they served well enough to get the song (and Justin himself) across to the viewer. It was the accidental viewing of one of Justin's videos that really got the ball rolling.
Before he knew it, Justin was booked on a plane to Atlanta, which is quite a big deal for a fifteen year old, and obviously he needed his mother's consent, which was given after consultation with church elders. Not long afterwards he was meeting up with Usher and to cut a long story short he climbed the ladder to stardom at an unprecedented rate. Within no time at all he had a platinum record, and millions of True Beleibers world-wide. A success story that near enough matches Stevie Wonder and others, although in a much shorter timescale.
Born in Ontario, he grew up with his mother Pattie, who brought him up on her own. This is a situation that many children find themselves in, so Justin's position within a single parent family is not exceptional. Whether or not this had an effect is not really important, as his family life may or may not have any bearing on his talent at all. Having said that, he does appear to a genuinely happy young guy, which must be attributed to his upbringing.
Another influence in Justin's life is God, an influence which is ever-present, and justin has been quoted as saying that he would like to spread the word in a more official capacity when he is older. He has also vowed to remain pure until he meets that 'special partner'. Perhaps this influence is exactly what he needs to help him navigate the precarious waterways of stardom, as opportunities for going wayward are rife in the world of showbiz.
From an early age he was obviously committed to hard work. For a young person to teach themselves guitar, piano, trumpet and drums is quite an accomplishment. Not only would he have had to do the usual run of chores, and homework, but when other kids were probably hanging around on corners Justin must have been practicing his instruments, all of which has paid off. Although he is primarily known as a singer, his knowledge of musical structures will have proven invaluable when song-writing.
Probably the most important element in the equation is Justin's self belief. It is unlikely that he would have worked so hard as a youngster without having some idea that all his efforts wouldn't be rewarded. He exudes a certain amount of self-confidence that is not exactly characteristic of someone so young, as it is not constituted of bluff, or arrogance, merely an objective self-awareness. It was this factor perhaps that enabled Justin to seize the day and grab the offer to fly to Atlanta - a less confident teenager may have balked, but obviously there was no fear in justin, just determination.
Justin now spends his time recording, and touring, and is frequently seen on red carpets, mingling with the stars, and doing so with grace and charm. Being so young, he is under the protective wing of many people who want ensure that Justin is not harmed by fame. This is the one aspect that only experience can manage, although having said that, Justin appears to be smart and strong enough to be too dazzled by the bright lights - his work ethic still seems to be what drives him.
What Justin shows young people, is what they can achieve without much money. His behavior in the limelight is exemplary, as despite being the occasional victim of internet pranksters, he always manages to retain a level of dignity and composure that is an example to us all - not just teenagers.
