The Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) is one of Africa's largest international arts festivals. HIFA, Harare International Festival of the Arts is an annual international arts festival that encompasses five main disciplines: music, theatre, fine arts, dance and spoken word. HIFA event was initiated in 1999 by Manuel Bagorro. It has received a fervent response from Zimbabwean audiences, as well as rest of Africa. The event has earned global fame for its artists and the performers as well as for itself. The Festival showcases the best of Zimbabwean performances and fine arts while at the same time staging and exhibiting the most exciting and creative international and regional performances.

The Harare International Festival of the Arts annually presents a showcase of local, regional and international performing and visual arts. HIFA will stage a 6 day annual festival and workshop programme that showcases the very best of local, regional and international arts and culture in a comprehensive festival programme of theatre, dance, music, circus, street performance, spoken word, visual arts. HIFA has come to be seen as an important symbol of something positive about Zimbabwe, unifying socially and culturally disparate groups of Zimbabweans at a time of ideological conflict and political uncertainty bringing huge audiences together to celebrate something positive the healing and constructive capacity of the arts.
