Boyle, more couples are choosing exotic islands over traditional ceremonies and receptions at home.As the number of engaged couples planning destination weddings rises, one of the biggest decisions the couple has to make is choosing where to get married. Popular locations for weddings on paradisiacal islands include the Caribbean, Maldives, Mauritius, the Seychelles, Hawaii, Fiji, Mexico, Tahiti, Costa Rica, Cyprus and Greece.
When it comes to choosing a destination for weddings abroad, many couples are tempted by white sand beaches, turquoise ocean water and warm and sunny weather. Beach weddings are becoming increasingly popular and many brides and grooms are opting for relaxed barefoot ceremonies on the soft sandy shores at sunset, followed by a small reception in a hotel or resort.
Many island resorts also offer free weddings or accommodation as part of a special promotion to entice more couples to consider getting married abroad and this can often be a more affordable way to tie the knot.
According to Susanne, island weddings are on the increase and many hotels and resorts are offering a selection of fantastic all inclusive packages for weddings, honeymoons and vow renewals.
Wedding packages often include the ceremony, registrar, legal documents, wedding cake, reception, champagne, bridal bouquet and boutonnire, photographs, dinner on the wedding night, breakfast in bed and accommodation for newlyweds.
Many resorts also offer the service of a professional onsite wedding coordinator who is available to help organise every aspect of the wedding, from booking the registrar to arranging the catering or flowers.
Susanne advises couples to do their research when planning their destination weddings on exotic islands in order to find out what the residency requirements are. These requirements differ depending on the country and couples will have to arrive on the island from 48 to 72 hours prior to the date of the wedding ceremony so that they acquire the correct licences and paperwork.
Islands provide the perfect setting for romantic vow renewals and wedding ceremonies and there are a number of settings to choose from including, lush tropical gardens, soft sandy beaches, outdoor pavilions, or a sunset ceremony aboard a boat with the magnificent backdrop of the sparkling azure ocean.
