Increase Your Sales By Becoming An Expert

Increase Your Sales By Becoming An Expert

There are many ways to become an expert but the simplest is to harness the power of Groups on Google and Yahoo

. There are literally thousands of Groups available to help you make an impact and become an expert in your field.

People join Groups because there they find others to communicate with who have a common interest and are able to share and access information that is relevant to their needs.

Whatever your niche, I am sure you will be able to find Groups already out there, ready for you to tap into. Groups are a great way to see and develop opportunities in your niche. They offer you three great opportunities:

- A way to develop a better understanding of your niche

- A FREE tool to kick start your marketing campaign when are getting your business started

- Establishing and developing your reputation as a niche expert in your market.

What you need to know first of all is how to leverage these Groups to promote you and your product, so here are three tips you can implement immediately...

#1 Education exchange is what works best The basis of most groups is the exchange of information, so you need to remember that in each exchange you have with them. You will upset and put off the Group if you join and immediately start a hard sell with hype and obvious sales tactics.

How do I know this? Because as a regular participant in Groups myself I have cringed at how a new member who obviously has a product to sell, or wants to build their list, comes in and blatantly says, "Buy My Product" or "For A Free Report...". The key is to understand that the Group is interested in an education exchange.

Their motivation in participating is to give and receive. They share information freely, and they want you to do the same. They do not want to be sold to. This is not a method for a quick return in marketing terms, but it will help in the long term if you want to make a serious commitment to your niche. What you want to look for in a Group is an opportunity to answer questions. Not an instant, automatic response but a considered and thorough answer that gives the information seeker what they are looking for. No vague answers and certainly no BS! Just keep doing that until you have started to develop a relationship within the Group.

It's essential to do this because it is establishing trust for when, at a later point, you can more easily and casually introduce your product. This way you are someone they already know, because you've regularly and consistently offered information freely that was for the good of the Group, and they won't view your product pitch as a hard sell.

If you've followed these steps and been considered in your answers, positioned them well and been a regular contributor then you will have:

- established your credibility - built some trust and respect - developed relationships - proven your expertise

This positioning is important and should not be underestimated. Once you feel you can tick each of these off, then you can start to drip in information on your product or service.

#2 Don't barge in! When you join a Group you need to keep a low profile for a while. Just barging in and giving everyone the 'benefit' of your opinion will just put people off you.

No one likes to meet someone and have them come on strongly with their own opinions straight away. You will come off as full of your own importance and what impression does that give to the Group? They are not going to listen to you immediately, and you run the risk of them never getting over that first impression.

That's why it is better to hang around in the background to start with. Visit regularly and read the posts, then see who people are listening and responding to most often. You can then get a flavour of the Group and find out if it is a supportive environment or more challenging, and if there are there a couple of strong characters in there who dominate.

All of these factors need taking into consideration and once you are confident you've got a handle on the problems, the support, and the challenges of that particular Group that's when you can offer constructive involvement and start posting.

#3 Attach a Signature file to your responses Groups do not like outright advertising, but if you've answered someone's question in a constructive and helpful way then you are entitled to put brief details under your name.

I would use something like this: Neil Travers Helping Develop Tomorrow's Soccer Talent Today! JuniorSoccerCoach.com That would fit fine with the Group and leaves a footprint for others to see and click on if they are interested in more information about me.

Becoming an expert in your chosen market is a reliable way to successfully promote your product or services. Following these simple steps will help you do that.
