The Fishing Classic is a competition that really gets the fisherman out with prizes of about $50,000 cash and trophies in many competitive categories. Both events are great fun for those who want to participate and for those who just want to come out and watch.
Sunferries Magnetic Island Race Week is an incredible five-day event that you will really enjoy if you are in the region during the beginning of September. This event is an annual regatta that takes place in the beautiful Magnetic Island and all races take place from Peppers Blue. This incredible event is a lot of fun with many activities for spectators to participate in the grill.
Cairns is a wonderful city to visit and if you love music and history, then you'll want to be sure and attend the City Reggae Festival. This event is a celebration of 12 hours and takes place in the Aboriginal Cultural Park, which allows you a chance to visit and learn about one of the original cultures of the earth while enjoying the music and Reggae. Three stages will host shows during the long day and will include a variety of groups from Jamaica, New Zealand and Africa, plus some local bands as well. This is a fabulous outdoor event that is fun for the whole family.
