The Florence main train station is known as the Stazione Centrale or Stazione Santa Maria Novella
. It is named for a nearby Fourteenth and Fifteenth Century Church on the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. Very close by is the Via dei Tornabuoni, Florence's finest shopping street and you can be sure that there's a lot of competition in this lovely city. We have personally verified that all hotels listed have an English-language website where you can obtain more information.The Alessandra is located just a block from the Ponte Vecchio and is quite close to the Via dei Tornabuoni. But if you are looking for a different sort of shopping experience you will want to visit the the "Straw Market", known as "Il Porcellino" (The Little Pig) where local artisans display their wares including fine leather. The Alessandra is on the second floor of a palace that was built in the early Sixteenth Century. There is a continental breakfast. The hotel has 26 rooms, one suite, and one apartment. For example, their top of the line Master Room goes for 1000 Euros a night, which works out to well over $1300. You do get a buffet breakfast, organic tea and coffee and lots, lots more.
