How To Travel With A Pet

How To Travel With A Pet

Your pet is part of your family and deserves to be treated as such

. When you are going on vacation, your pet does not have to be excluded from the fun. With a little preparation, you can ensure that your pet is able to travel as safely as you are. Take a look below to learn how to travel with a pet.

Travelling with a Pet:

1.

Choose a pet-friendly hotel. Some hotels allow cats or small- and medium-sized dogs. Weight restrictions may apply. Contact your hotel choice in advance to be sure your pet will be welcome.

2.

Do a check-up. Check your pet's vaccination records and visit the vet for booster shots if necessary. Pack a photocopy of the vaccination records and keep them with you at all times during your vacation.

3.

Pack. Pack your pet's belongings for the trip. Make sure you pack everything your pet needs to be comfortable on a daily basis, including food, treats, toys, leashes and even familiar blankets or bedding material.

4.

Keep control. Purchase an appropriate travel crate or restraint device. If you are flying, you will need a crate that can safely be moved around and tied down in the airplane cargo hold. If you are traveling with a dog by car, you'll want a safe crate or a harness that can be attached to a seat belt.

Tips:

1.

If you are traveling with a dog, visit a few dog parks and other pet-friendly places within your locality to make sure she is comfortable and well-behaved outside of her usual territory.

2.

Don't force your pet to travel with you in the future if things don't work out. You may be better off if you hire a pet sitter or put your pet in a kennel where she can be taken care of until you return.
