There is a lot of adversity and choices to make in life so we all need to develop character
. Character that is strong enables individuals to over come obstacles. Obviously, it goes without saying that this is why children must be taught good character traits and values that include everything from patriotism to responsibility, just to name a few. Many organizations have programs that can help youths build character including schools, churches, and community groups, as well as girls homes. You can help your child develop character by giving them a membership in one or more of these organizations. Character building starts in the home. When children understand the underlying principles behind the things you teach them, it will be easier for them to follow your lead and not rebel against you. By showing you are thinking about your children's well being, you are able to easily connect with them, and this, in turn, will make it easier to teach them.
When you set limits, explain the rationale for those limits
When children misbehave or make wrong decisions, it is important that parents employ a form of discipline. This will make children feel that they should always be responsible for their behavior and decisions and that there are consequences for their actions, both good and bad. Parents won't get the results they want if they do nothing but punish misconduct in their children. When your teenager ignores house rules or curfews, it is a parent's responsibility to explain the consequences of breaking the rules and to take that opportunity to reiterate the family values and how they have been violated.
You may benefit from incorporating all different kinds of media into your learning methods
In order to reach out to as many students as possible, schools use a variety of media including books, visual aids and documentaries. Parents can also apply the same teaching techniques and use different media as a means of instilling good character values to their children. You can find a nearly infinite array of books and movies that help children learn how to build strong character and good values. Parents can show these to their children and can discuss the moral lessons with them afterward.
It is not the job of institutions such as schools or churches to build character in your children. It is necessary for parents to understand their role in building the character of their children.
