How Do You Know About Christmas

The Christmas Day is coming. Its a day that nobody can forget in a year. Every year, the colored lights decorate many town centers and shops, along with shiny decorations, and artificial snow painted on shop windows. And the Christmas trees will also be decorated with lights and Christmas ornaments.

As a religious holiday, Christians celebrate Christmas Day on December 25 every year as the anniversary of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, a spirit leader whose teaching forms the basis of their religion. Christmas has also become a worldwide cultural and commercial phenomenon, and there are more than 400 people celebrate the day, which makes it one of the worlds biggest religious and commercial festivities.

On the Christmas Day they can exchange gifts, decorating Christmas trees, attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and waiting for Santa Claus to arrive. And the Christmas Day has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1870.

Father Christmas (or Santa Claus) and his gift must be the most attractive part of Christmas in our childhood. We can see from pictures that Father Christmas is a kind old man with long white beard, in red coat, and always takes a bag of toys. He lives near the North Pole, and arrives through the sky on a sledge pull by the reindeer. On the night before Christmas, he will come into houses down the chimney at midnight and place presents in socks or bags that we put by the beds or in front of the family Christmas tree.

And on the streets, shops or at childrens parties, there are people dress up as Father Christmas and give small presents to children. For children, Christmas is a time of magic and excitement. Even when I was grown up, Im still very happy to share the beautiful stories with my niece and nephew, and find the surprises from Father Christmas with them.

On Christmas Day people give each other the Christmas gifts to show that people care about each other. Some people also send their greeting by Christmas cards, instead of paper cards, more people choose to send out and electronic cards which design by themselves, especially friends in the distant.

Christmas dinner is a most important part of Christmas celebration. Families will exert much effort to plan and prepare good food during Christmas. The food that served varies greatly from country to country. In the USA, they serve turkey and/or ham. So as in England and countries influenced by the tradition, a standard Christmas meal includes turkey, meat, gravy, potatoes, vegetables, sometimes bread and cinder. Those foods are place on the table with functions as an amazing table dcor.

Beef, ham and chicken in various recipes are popular thought the world. In some eastern Europe like Poland, and Scandinavia, fish often is used for the traditional main course, but richer meat such as lamb is increasingly served. In Germany, France and Australia, goose and pork are favorite.
