Guarantor Loans Vs High Street

In today's market it is difficult to get a loan if you do not own your own home

. The first place you should always try is your high street bank, if you have good credit they will probably offer you the best rate. The three main current alternatives are payday loans, log book lending and guarantor loans.

Payday loans typically charge between 25 and 30 per 100 you borrow, per month and given the length of these loans it means that the APR's typically go into many 1000s%, they are however a useful stopgap if you need cash urgently before you get paid. There are a number of lenders in the market today and it is best to look on consumer sites to get a perspective on which are the better lenders.

Log book loans typically ask you to leave your V5 document and will lend up to 50% of your cars' value. As long as you do not have outstanding finance these loans are pretty much guaranteed loans.

Guarantor Loans require you to have a homeowner who act as a guarantor for your loan. The Apr's are less than payday and logbook loans and are typically over a longer amount of time where you pay off capital as well as interest every month.

The last stop is door step lending. The Apr's are high and practices are questionable in this industry and it is best avoided on all counts. The key thing for all loans is to check you can afford the monthly repayments for which ever type of loan you take out.
