Getting the Most Out of Online Auctions Courses

eBay is still at the top of the heap when it comes to online auctions and for many people it is an excellent way to make a little extra money. Unfortunately, it can be extremely costly to learn to sell via the trial and error method. This usually results in lots of fees and even more unsold items or worse not getting the value of the sold items. There is no doubt this is a problem, but there is a solution. The solution is to learn from others what works and what does not work.

The most obvious ways to learn to sell are books and courses and each have their limitations. It is important to understand the strengths and limitations of each book or course before purchasing.

It is amazing how many books and courses that are available online at the moment. It gets even more confusing because each one is designed or at least marketed as being designed to help you become better at selling.

The first type of course I would like to talk about is the e-book or manual that is often found on eBay as well as the site of the person that created it. In most cases the term e-book is often used to refer to an Adobe PDF file or Microsoft Word document instead of the digital version of a book associated with with Amazon's Kindle or other e-readers. Generally these books or reports are inexpensive, however some cost more than a hard cover book. Many of these eBooks provide valuable information that really can be used to sell on eBay. The problem with the lower cost "e-book" courses is that the material is often outdated or inaccurate. While the higher cost materials may be more accurate they too often suffer from being outdated unless the creator regularly updates the content to match the changes implemented by eBay.

The second type of course is also a type of digital course is the email newsletter which is really effective because it can provide the most timely and accurate information if the creator stays informed about eBay policies and how the policies affect the techniques being taught. Email newsletters can be updated a lot easier than digital reports and manuals. The major benefit is that although the newsletter might be provided free, it can be difficult to try to apply the techniques and tips while you read. You may also want to print them out and often these newsletters may not be properly formatted for printing. Also there is very little feedback or interaction.

The third type of course is the physical book which often contains more information than the digital reports and manuals mentioned before. Books are usually quite accurate and informative when first published but only provide a snapshot of what worked before the book was published. Books take up more physical space and are often expensive.

Often, widely sold on eBay is the fourth type of course the video series. This is really good because most producers of these courses use a screen capture tool to show step by step the things they do to be successful and use narration to explain what they are showing you at the time. Some of the lower end courses are very inexpensive but some of the better courses can be more expensive than books. This type of course also lacks interaction of the next two types of courses and is also as likely to be as outdated as the previous three examples. Try one of the next two types of courses to get the most for your money.

The webinar or virtual seminar delivered over the web is probably one of the best methods for taking a course to learn to sell on eBay. It allows anyone registered that has internet access a chance to learn in a more structured manner. These courses are often less likely to be outdated because the instructor has the opportunity to update the material as needed before presenting. However for some people the best way to learn to do something is face to face.

The final method is the physical course in which someone actively teaches the students the material on site. Distance is perhaps the number one enemy of this type of course, because if students can't get to the class they can't learn the material. A good instructor will be well informed of the changes that will affect the validity of the material that is being taught. Although many instructors can teach students to be successful using their own material that has been tried and tested, there are several instructors that teach official eBay course material. These instructors are called "Education Specialists Trained By eBay" and were required to pass an exam to earn this distinction. Education Specialists receive the latest changes from eBay as it is incorporated into their course materials.

In most cases taking a live course taught by an Education Specialist Trained By eBay, will allow you to get the most bang for your buck. However there are many cases in which there is another method more suited for your learning style.
