Fortaleza Offers Sun, Warmth and a Lively Nightlife in Brazil by:Lucas Heinns

For some time Fortaleza has established itself as a major tourist point in the Northeast

. The capital city of Ceara, Brazil, offers visitors much of the indispensable ingredients for a fun on the Brazilian coast: sun, warmth, ocean view, excellent hotels and an efficient list of cultural attractions at museums and venues. One plus is the night life, lively Monday to Sunday.

The map draws a big city, with many buildings and hotels, with around 2.5 million inhabitants. The main routine of the tourists are towards to the sea, visiting the beaches of Iracema and Meireles. Fortaleza sea is fulled with fishing boats and all sizes of vessels, one of the post cards of the city. Through the Beira-Mar Street, the main beaches are connected by boardwalks that practically make then an amusement park: lookouts to watch surfers and jangadeiros (fishermen), tropical gardens and squares shaded by coconut trees, sculptures, sports facilities, shopping and gastronomic and a craft fair with hundreds of exhibitors. The boardwalk is also a permanent source of breeze, ice cream and coconut water, survival items in the heat surrounded by asphalt and concrete of Fortaleza.

Distant about ten kilometers from Fortaleza, Praia do Futuro (Future Beach) seems a world apart, where the tall buildings no longer are seen, only skyline on all sides. The place is famous for high-tech comfort of their tents on the beach, leisure complex with real foot-in-sand, swimming pools, hammocks, massage rooms and aesthetic therapies, lan houses, childcare's, concert halls and great restaurants.

Back in the central region, worth a visit, within the first hours of the trip, the Drago do Mar Center of Art and Culture and the Theatro Jos de Alencar. Both honor the illustrious inhabitants of Cear.Fortaleza Offers Sun, Warmth and a Lively Nightlife in Brazil by:Lucas Heinns

Facing the square Jos de Alencar, the Theatro Jos de Alencar, which turns 100 years old in 2010. It is a relic of iron architecture that can be visited with guide tours during the day, and also offers shows day and night. Named after an important writer, Alencar has Iracema, Ubirajara and many other characters that brought natives from some of the Brazilian forests to the literature in the 19th century. The birthplace of the writer is also open to visitors, a small farm away from Fortaleza downtown in Messejana.

The culture of the native, mixed with the traditions of Portuguese settlers, shows its strength in two valuable brands of Cear, which are handicrafts and gastronomy. Both move the state's economy. The Craft Center (CEART) lists dozens of craft types that characterize the production of different regions of Ceara. In Fortaleza, fairs, shopping malls, Central Market and Tourism Center, you can buy pieces of clay and straw, cloth embroidered by hand or machine, crochet, weaving, paintings, leather goods, ceramics, wood and metal, regional flora, bobbin lace, maze, and more.

In a state with 573 km of coastline and all types of beaches, from urban to desert, fish and seafood are the flagship of cooking. The crab deserves a special date in the week for their consumption: Thursday "Night of the crab" in Praia do Futuro and in other parts of the city. The menus always bring many versions of crab recipes. Typical fruits and nuts as ingredients as meat, goat and cassava also help make up the long list of recipes with amazing results.

Fortaleza is named after a fortress, the Schoonenborch Fort, built with Dutch engineering and renamed Fort of Our Lady of the Assumption in 1654, when the Dutch were expelled by the Portugueses in the colonial era. Located in the downtown, near the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Public Road, the monument is open for visitation, the starting point for a typical historical itinerary.Fortaleza Offers Sun, Warmth and a Lively Nightlife in Brazil by:Lucas Heinns

The Beach Park in the neighboring municipality of Aquiraz, is a schedule of day, for children and adults. On the beach of Porto das Dunas, the water park offers dozens of water slides, artificial river, wave pools and some places to just relax with sun, artificial waterfalls, sauna and heated pool. The Beach Park attracts about 3,000 visitors per day in high season, when prices go all the way up for tickets and food.

Another areas that are worth a visit are Morro Branco, Canoa Quebrada Cumbuco. Tourists with extra time can stretch out the trip to mythical places like Juazeiro North Padre Cicero or a famous beach where, every afternoon, several accents of the country and the world are at the top of the dune to applaud the sunset sun: Jericoacoara.
