Fit Over 40 Review - You Don't Have To Be Over the Hill

As we age, it's easy to become complacent about our health and fitness. After all, we're conditioned to think that the aging process brings on a slower metabolism and hence the inevitability of a slow physical decline until the body stops functioning altogether. While it's true that the body slows down as we age, it is also true that with less physical activity and poor nutrition this aging process tends to proceed at a more rapid pace.

But it doesn't have to be that way. And Jack LaLanne -- the exercise guru whose television program ran for an unprecedented 34 years when, at age 71, he finally brought it to an end -- is the perfect example. He was active up until the day he died (at 96) and never complained about the aging process. He looked as fit at age 65 as he did at age 40! And actively worked out two hours a day well into his 90s.

Enter Jon Benson who at thirty-eight was told by his doctor that if he didn't lose weight, he wouldn't live to see his fortieth birthday. It was at this point in his life that Jon decided to do something about his weight and overall health. After watching a series on motivation by Tony Robbins, he realized the power of role modeling in motivating people to succeed. Partially inspired by this idea, it led him to develop the Fit Over 40, Role Models For Excellence At Any Age concept.

This concept turned into an e-book, co-written by himself and fitness expert Tom Venuto, featuring over fifty different stories of people, aged 40 or over, who told their unique tales of achieving health and fitness despite being in their golden years. And like LaLanne, Jon's formula emphasizes proper nutrition in the struggle to maintain or regain one's physical health.

Returning the body to optimum health and fitness levels requires not only dedication, but also the right strategies for overcoming whatever obstacles that may be hindering the achievement of one's goals. There are 52 different people whose wide ranging experiences in overcoming physical handicaps contributed to this book. Just the range of real world experiences and how these people accomplished the task of regaining their health will serve to stimulate food for thought as well as the motivation to achieve.

It's virtually certain that anyone who reads this book will find someone in it whose plight reflects their own. The encouragement that one derives from realizing that "if they can do it, so can I" can be life altering. Not to mention the road map that is provided. By following the examples of the people whose stories make up a part of this book, the reader can become empowered with the knowledge and the will to take action and succeed.
