Disney's princess line of merchandise keeps expanding, from dolls to watches to holiday-themed items
As the holidays loom, parents find themselves wondering what to buy their children (leaving everything to Santa just doesn't seem to cut it)
. A major player in on Christmas lists, and on children's gift lists year round, has always been the Walt Disney company. For the little girls of the world, the Disney princess line is particularly appealing. It is also constantly expanding to include everything from Disney princess dolls to Disney princess watches.The princesses of Disney include Ariel, the star of The Little Mermaid, Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, Aurora, from Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine from Aladdin, Tiana from the Princess and the Frog, and Pocahontas, Snow White, Cinderella and Mulan from their respective films.
Rapunzel, the long-haired fairy tale beauty, is set to debut as a Disney princess sometime this year.

However, after so much success, Disney began releasing Disney princess Christmas items, Disney princess watches, video games, movies, Disney princess Pez dispensers, board games, and even Disney princess bandages. All in all, there are said to be more than 25,000 products based on this franchise. It is hard to go into a toy store without finding several items that bear the likenesses of the Disney princesses.
The Disney princess line has also been featured on the Disney Cruise line as well as Disney on Ice. It remains a staple of the theme parks, as things like breakfast with the princesses and meet and greets are highly sought-after events. Girls over three can also get made into a princess at several of the parks.
While most Disney princess dolls and Disney princess watches are limited to the princesses officially in the franchise, sometimes characters such as Alice from Alice in Wonderland or Tinkerbell from Peter Pan are included in the merchandising.
