Dfg Wire200 3-1 Pitch Wire Binding Machine Review

Do you need a well-designed, high-quality wire binding machine for light personal or office use

? If you do, you simply must check out the Wire200 binding machine manufactured by the Digital Finishing Group (DFG). Although DFG isn't as well-known as some of the binding industry bigwigs (such as GBC and Fellowes), they still produce some of the best binding machines available. Their Wire200 binding machine has some of the market's most sought-after features an astonishingly reasonable price ($200.00). Check out what the Wire200 can do and prepare to be amazed.

When it comes to binding machines, disengageable dies are one of the features most binding enthusiasts seek out. Disengageble dies enable you to use a binding machine for documents of many different sizes, but they're not often found in the lower-end machines. (In other words, the cheaper the machine, the less likely it is to have disenageable dies.) But the Wire200 has them. In fact, it has five, so not only can you punch and bind letter-sized documents, you can also create documents that are up to 21 inches long. The Wire200 also lets you control where your document's holes go via a punch margin control, which can help make your booklet more durable. The punch margin control is another feature that's usually only found on higher-end machines, so it's pretty amazing that the Wire200 has it.

As for other features, the Wire200 has a 3:1 pitch (three square holes per inch) and with the wire closer, you can close a document up to 9/16" thick. This is a fully manual machine (you won't have to worry about running up your electric bill), and the machine is very lightweight so it can be moved around without difficulty. It's also very easy to use. Even if you've never used a wire binding machine before, you'll be able to do it confidently in no time at all with the Wire200.

The Wire200 does have a couple of flaws, the first being the machine's construction. Most of the machine is made of metal, which is great, but the exterior is plastic, so it might not hold up very well. Also, if you need to bind thicker documents or the 12-page punching capacity seems too small for you, it would be better to choose a different machine. The Wire200 is meant for light use and it just isn't a good choice if you need a more heavy-duty binding machine. Also, it only has a one-year warranty, so go easy with it unless you want to replace it at some point.

So, to recap, the Wire200 is a light-duty wire binding machine that would be an excellent choice for people who need an entry-level gadget with some advanced features. Although it has a small punching capacity and can only bind thinner documents, the Wire200's disengageable dies and punch margin control make it stand out as an easy-to-use wire binding machine that's way ahead of the rest of the pack. Besides, how many lower-priced machines can bind a document that's 21 inches long? Not very many, that's for sure.
