Availability of proper storage system is a key to keep your house clean and well managed
. Without proper storage facilities, your house will seem like a heaps of mess scattered here and there. We can only remove this clutter by arranging some appropriate storage facilities. Having proper storage facilities not only keep your house free from clutter but also help you to manage things properly. - Built-in or fitted cupboards
Out of these free standing furniture and modular storage system are most appreciated storage systems. They have great influence on the appearance of the room. Built in storage system are simple and are considered as more efficient. Selection of storage system is solely depends on you that how you utilize the available space and what impression you want to give your room.
In the above mentioned storage systems, you have the option to arrange the supports and containment methods in many ways. You can choose the best suitable containment method for you. Some of the most frequent use supports and containments are:
- Drawers, boxes, lockers, tubes, jars, baskets, trays, box files, tins, and industrial containers.
- Shelving: adjustable or fixed
- Hanging from: hooks, runners and rails
Storage units have three level of storage depending on height:
Floor Level Storage: Floor level storage contains the areas like under the beds and stairs, in the eaves of roof etc.
Wall Storage: These contain alcoves, partitions reachable from both sides, hanging storage units etc, usually hidden by curtains.
High Level Storage: High level storage system contains outer perimeters of high rooms, top of the stairwell, hanging systems, usually approached by ladders or pulleys.
Where to Establish Storage Units
The most important point in talking about storage units is to decide where to position them in the house or room. There are so many places in the room or house where you can position these units, but some of the best consider places are:
- Examine the whole house or room and see which places are not in use are which are not used often.
- Circulations spaces like corridors, stair wells, landings and hallways can also be used for storage units in most of the cases.
- Any unused space on roof
- You can use an entire room for storage, if you have any space room available.
Points to Remember
- Arranging a storage system according to the weight is very important. You need strong support for heavy weight objects in the storage units.
- Arrange light in the cupboard.
- It is better to make storage for heavy items near the floor; you can use higher units for light and bulky items as they are easy to lift.
