Having pearl white teeth is always equated to having a perfect smile

. However, most people especially those with stained teeth are incapable of achieving this. But through teeth bleaching, they can now have the smile that they have always wanted and eradicate tooth decay and stained teeth which are are just two examples of problems that people experienced today.

Bleaching can be defined as the process of clearing the teeth of the stains and making them whiter. Like skin bleaching, this process applied on teeth will get rid of all its discolorations producing a set of pearly white teeth.

Smoking and aging are just some of the causes of a stained tooth. This can also be blamed to drinking coffee or tea. A part of one's tooth called enamel is the one responsible for absorbing the color of these products.

Most of the stains of the teeth are effectively managed by teeth whitening or bleaching. It is versatile in the sense that it can be applied on the entire teeth or just some part of it. Stains located within the depths of the tooth may not be whitened by bleaching since they are so deep. Also, fluorosis, a brown or black spot in the teeth, is one of the example of hard stains which may not be eradicated by whitening.

In applying the teeth bleaching procedure, one can also tell the dentist what part is to be whitened or if the entire set of teeth is to be whitened. This is not a problem, as this procedure is tailor made to each individual's needs.

One can actually have a set of teeth 7 times whiter than before. This is all because of the bleaching process. Shade cards may also be given by the dentists to show the patient how white the teeth can go and be able to compare it with their teeth.

There is a big difference between commercial teeth whitening products and dental clinic visits. In dental visits, the dentist can check and make a personalized assessment of one's tooth health. Then the shade card may be shown to them to visually show the extent of the whitening that can be done to one's teeth. While some may take around 2-3 sessions before the effects can be perceived, others show quick results of teeth bleaching within 1 session only. In comparison to the commercial products, results are never guaranteed and may take a while.

Whitening toothpastes can be used by patients after the bleaching procedure to ensure that the teeth remains pearly white and clean. Care must however be given as some of these toothpastes uses abrasion which may render the teeth to lose its normal shine.
