Dealing With Toddlers - Parenting Tips In Dealing With Your Toddlers

Dealing with toddlers may not be as easy as it seems as tantrums in toddlers are

among the challenges of most parents, as it is in this stage that your little one may be testing your patience. Your toddlers may have their own rules, they won't listen or they may suddenly have their own way of expressing themselves like screaming, thus learning to deal with them at this stage is important.

At ages one to three, children become interested in many things and they love to explore and imitate. You may find them opening drawers, climbing into anything, stirring the fish bowl, playing with your pets, searching into the contents of your purse and you may even see your little daughter smearing her lips with your lipstick if she has seen you doing that.

In this stage where kids love to explore things and throw some tantrums often, here are some tips to help you in dealing with toddlers and their behavior.

- Make your home a safe place for your toddler. You may not totally stop a toddler from exploring things, climbing furniture and discovering things around them as these are part of her development. However, it will not be good as well to leave your toddler unsupervised while they do their thing. You can deal with this putting away things that can hurt him, fix broken furniture, cover electric plugs, keep cleaning products out of his reach and keep a watchful eye over him.Dealing With Toddlers - Parenting Tips In Dealing With Your Toddlers

- Ignore their tantrums. In dealing with toddlers you have to understand that they won't usually listen to you when they have tantrums, so you have to have tons of patience. But you don't have to always give in to his demands. Most often, toddlers who throw their tantrums are only seeking attention and one way to deal with it is to ignore them until he calms down and stop.

- Distract him, leave him or just carry him out - of course, your options depend on the situation. If he resists on getting something he wants, you may want to give alternatives too. Indeed, it can be hard even for kids to just get want you wanted them to have. Offer an alternative toy or another choice of vegetable if he doesn't want the first one. If you are in public, of course, you just can't leave him there. You just have to carry him out if he is not calming down.

- Classify which are negotiable and non-negotiable when it comes to dealing with toddlers and their tantrums. If your toddler insists on having that pink dress over the one you are making her wear, then don't sweat it. But when it comes to more important matters that concern his safety, his health, etc. then you must not give in and you must stick to that rule.

- Try to determine the different triggering factors of his tantrums. Most often, they would go into tantrums if they are tired, hungry or sleepy, so you may want to address them first. Also make sure you are giving your child proper nutrition as this too can trigger the mood swings of your toddler.

Toddlers and their tantrums can be a test of your patience but as all these are part of their development and can be inevitable, you can find ways in making this stage a little easier for you and your tot.
