Creating A Call To Action Online - Mind Control For The Masses

Most websites are created with a specific goal in mind

. Whether it is to inform people about something, convince them to purchase something or to create a forum for people to discuss one thing or another, there is a specific reason for most websites. Some sites are very straightforward about what it is that they want you to do, such as online stores, which want you to make a purchase. Others are much more ambiguous, such as article directories and blogs, which provide you information but then would like for you to do something with that information, such as visit a specific website or donate to a cause. Even some social media is used to compel people to do something, such as get out and vote or provide support for one cause or another. When it comes right down to it, almost every site is creating a call to action online of one kind or another.

For e-commerce or online stores, this is fairly straightforward. The website features a product or service, and the purpose of the website is to convince you that you want to make a purchase from that site. Online stores use many of the same techniques as "brick and mortar" stores do in creating a call to action. Sale prices, limited time offers, free shipping, positive reviews and glossy product information are all designed to encourage you to click that all important "Add to Cart" button and even more importantly, continue on to the checkout. The last thing that any online store wants is to have nothing more than window shoppers.

Other types of websites are slightly more subtle in communicating what it is that they wish you to do. Article directories are a great source of information. Places such as ezine.com allow people to search practically any topic, and find quite a number of articles about that topic. Each of those articles may be written by a different author, with different information about the topic. Each of those authors will express their views or maybe just facts about whatever the topic may be. They then have the ability to add a link to their website or some other site that they wish you to click through to, thereby creating a call to action. Many times, the site that you will click into is actually an online store that sells goods that relate to the topic that the article dealt with. The benefit for the consumer is that, having read the article that the owner of the site has published, they have a better sense of the company that they may be doing business with.

Social networking sites, such as Facebook and Twitter, are also becoming quite adept at creating a call to action. As these social media giants have grown and expanded networks, they have found ways of using the strength of their membership numbers to potentially do some social good. Different causes have representation on these sites and give people the opportunity to show support for those causes. Everything from signing petitions, to raising awareness to donating money has been accomplished by the causes that have been featured there. In addition, these types of social networks have also been used to facilitate circulating important messages, such as amber alerts for missing children, around the world in record time. The call to action in these cases has been clear, and followed pretty enthusiastically.

Most websites have some sort of implicit or explicit call to action. Creating a call to action can be as simple as instructing the reader to "click here" or as subtle as cleverly featured products on a shopping site.

See, there is a call to action right now!

Are you ready to get started? Now is the best time to take action and get started today!
