Based on the results of The Economist's World's Most Liveable Cities Index for 2010
, the following three Australian cities are those which ranked highest in the list and an explanation of just why they are perfect for Australia immigration.1. Melbourne - ranked third in the survey and a mere half a point behind the top spot, Melbourne received a highly respectable score of 97.5 out of 100.
The capital city of Victoria on the south eastern coast of the country (as well as being the most populated city in the whole of the state, as well as the second most populated in Australia), Melbourne has something to offer everyone, from sandy beaches to interesting history and fantastic shopping to being a major business district.
Take the history side as just one example. Arguably one of the most interesting and notable tales in Australian history is the Victorian gold rush when in the middle of the nineteenth century, thousands of people fled to Melbourne on a weekly basis to try and secure their own piece of gold.
2. Sydney - the largest and most populated city in both its state of New South Wales on the east coast of Australia and in the country itself, Sydney is one of the most popular cities in the world.
Known for it's landmark architectural delights, most notably the Sydney Opera House (built in 1973, it was created by the Dutchman Jorn Utzon and has hosted some world famous performers of the years) and the Harbour Bridge (taking just under a decade to create, the bridge was completed on 19 January 1932 and is made entirely of steel from Dorman Long and Co ltd of Middlesbrough, England), Sydney is a city that most people want to visit at least once in their lifetime.
It also happens to be one of those cities where you never want to leave, however, which is why so many holidaymakers return time and time again - or even decide to stay permanently.
3. Adelaide - whilst Adelaide is number three on this list after being ranked eighth in the world by The Economist, it is in fact only included here due to the fact it starts with an A - Perth also ranked eighth in the world, too.
Located just west along the coast from Melbourne, one of Adelaide's most attractive aspects is its climate.
As a whole, Adelaide sees an average annual high of 22.3 degrees centigrade and a low of 12.2 centigrade. Look at the individual months, however and at the peak of summer you can expect temperatures of close to 30 degrees (upwards of 29 degrees is the average high in both January and February), whilst it very rarely drops anywhere near to freezing even in the winter, with the lowest average temperature being 7.5 degrees centigrade.
