What is the refund policy?
It is a way to offer ClickBank-buyers some sort of confidence and security when they opt to buy some products. Indeed, if the product does not stick to what is promised on the sales letter, then the buyer has the right to get 100% of his money back.
What is downside here?
As any other idea, this approach does not involve only benefits. It can push some people to cheat the system via buying the product and then, without any reasons, ask for refund. In case you are a ClickBank affiliate, you should learn to live with this problem.
ClickBank statistics tell us that 95% of the sales are not refunded, while 5% are refunded. Surely, some of these refunds were done based on a real reason, while others were just scams. Since the policy says that there are no questions asked, you never know if this refund request is really feasible.
What is the challenging problem here?
The main challenge here is the non-ability to ask the customer to bring back the product to get his money back. ClickBank hosts only digital products. Hence, the customer will surely have a copy of the product on his computer. This way, some customers are encouraged to ask for refunds since they guarantee having the product.
What be the feasible solution for this problem?
One of the supposed solutions is to apply a tracking system, which records the data of those customers who always ask for refunds. This way, you can prohibit these customers from buying products or from enjoying the refund policy. However, this solution will not work quite efficiently. If the customer logged in using another name and credit card information, this tracking system is no longer of any use.
I would be very happy to tell you that the solution has been solved. Sadly, it is not the case. The problem has already been detected, but not solved. ClickBank designers informed their affiliates and merchants that they are on the way to find a solution.
But it is still worth supporting a strong refund policy because that is what makes ClickBank a solid marketplace. And, if you do have to entire a 5% refund but keep 95% of the sales, that still is not too shabby.
