Christmas in Seychelles- Santa comes to the tropics

Not all Christmases are white, with chestnuts roasting on an open fire. In the tropics and the pacific region Santa is a bit more lightly clad, but no less jolly. A Christmas in the Seychelles should definitely be a resolution to be kept at some point, in every traveler's diary.

The Republic of Seychelles is made up of little islands, a hundred and fifteen to be exact and stretches across a land area of over 400 square kilometers. Of these little islands roughly about forty one of them make up some of the mid oceanic's oldest lands. While the others form the coral heavy border of the islands on the outer parts of this land area.

With the majority of the population in Seychelles being Christians, Christmas is a grand event in the nation's calendar, with festivities to make up for the traditional white Christmases in Europe.

Setting the trend for Christmas are the decorations that light up every shopping mall, home commercial building and even restaurants.

Parties organized on the beach are a common sight during Christmas. That's not all, the Seychelles has to offer tourists during the festive holidays and most of the activities available are the same as any other tropical destination. Activities include sailing or windsurfing a favourite past time with the local residents. Tourists also have the option of engaging other water sports such as diving to keep the adrenalin pumping.

There are also some residents in Seychelles who prefer to spend the day visiting the sites like the Anse Lazio, Valle de Mai and the Aldabra. For the best place to view some gorgeous coral reefs and not to mention the world's largest Aldabra is the place to be. For a greener setting, the Valle de Mai with its naturally grown coco palms is a treat to see.

Whether it is the festive season or otherwise fabulous vacation packages you are looking for, it could be found at many a Seychelles hotel. The Raffles Praslin Seychelles hotel with its breathtaking views offers the visitor to this Seychelles resort a home-away-from-home setting, during this season that celebrates the togetherness of loved ones and friends.
