A child support can be arranged in case of determination of parentage, marital seperation, annulment, dissolution of civil union or divorce.In family law, child support or child maintenance, is the financial support offered to the obligee by the obligor to take care of the child. Generally, but not always, the obligee is the custodial parent and the obligor is the non custodial parent. In many jurisdictions, demonstration of paternity or maternity is enough for child support obligation, and there is no compulsion for the parents to be married.
The court gives the ruling regarding child support which it feels is in the best interest of the child. There are many factors that the court considers while awarding the final verdict about child support. Through child support, periodic payments are made to take care of the various needs of the child. These can also be modified in case the needs of the child or the obligor's resources changes.
